Relocation of the Horticulture building 480ft as part of the reimagining of Lansdowne Park.
The Challenge: A massive 1914 unreinforced masonry building with zero internal shear walls and a high risk of “racking” during the move.
The Solution: CDS engineered a massive 480-ton temporary internal steel exoskeleton, effectively turning the fragile brick shell into a unified “box beam” for transport.
Champlain Oil Company Garage (Ottawa, ON)
Relocation of Champlain Oil Company Garage across Richmond road to allow for the construction of a modern high-rise structure.
The Challenge: Constructed entirely of vintage masonry blocks, this fragile structure was prone to cracking.
The Solution: We engineered a bespoke bracing strategy using an internal steel grid and metal banding to securely “capture” the original footings for a low-profile transport.
